Halloween in Budapest 2024

Halloween is coming and with it a lot of party plans and fun. But all these plans are not enough if you are lucky enough to be in Budapest.

In the Hungarian capital the fun is multiplied, and the city offers you a wide variety of leisure options like you could never have imagined.

So that you don’t get lost among so many offers and ideas, we bring you a list of the best ones, so that you can make the most of your days in Budapest. Do you dare to come with us?

Halloween in Budapest

The rest of the year Budapest has plenty to see and do. Just imagine what it has in store for Halloween. Although Halloween night is just one night, special offers, promotions, parties and other special events usually last for several days. At least a weekend or part of the week.

That’s why we recommend you try them all, because we have brought options for everyone, and knowing that they will be available for several days, it would be a shame not to make the most of your trip to Budapest.

Escape rooms in Budapest

Escape rooms are a leisure option available all year round, and what’s more, they are all over the world. Why should you go to one in Budapest? Because the one we recommend is not a normal escape room.

What we are proposing is an inverse experience, like a house of terror, but in a big way. With actors, luxurious sets and who knows what other horrible creatures are waiting for you hidden in the shadows.

Nightmare in Budapest, Rákóczi út 30, has terrifying experiences all year round, but they pull out all the stops when it comes to their favourite holiday; Halloween.

Ghost Hunt

If you liked this experience, but closed places are too scary for you, we have another option for you. There are escape rooms that, instead of taking place indoors, are held outdoors.

Do you think it will be less scary that way? Well, think again. In this type of escape room, like the Haunted Budapest: Ghost Hunt Outdoor Escape Game, you don’t need any kind of guide, just your mobile phone and the desire to explore the city.

You will have a great time, solving mysteries, discovering legends and running away from the darkness. You will get to know Budapest while having fun and learning. It’s a great plan.

Halloween in the best Ruin Bars

And once you’ve finished wandering around the city and discovering all the mysteries, how about stopping for a drink?

The Ruin bars in Budapest are a must. They have become a place of pilgrimage for those looking for fun and something different. Each ruin bar is different and has its own decor and atmosphere.

Whether you are a night owl or not, you should stop by some of the ruin bars to check them out. Not all of them are open exclusively at night, in fact most of them are open in the early evening.

So get ready for our ruin bar crawl. The first stop is the obvious one, the one you must make, if only to be able to say; I’ve been there. We are talking about Szimpla Kert, at Kazinczy u. 14. It is the most popular, not only in the city but in the country.

A whole building that looks like it’s going to come down at any moment. You can leave your mark there by signing the walls while you try a local beer, a pálinka or a shot of Unicum, the two national drinks.

It’s got a great atmosphere and the decor is like nothing you’ve seen anywhere else. You have to go, it’s not an advice, it’s almost an order.

The Kőleves kert (Kőleves Vendéglő) is in the Jewish quarter, at Kazinczy u. 37-41. It is the perfect place to go out, drink, eat, dance and enjoy Budapest’s great nightlife.

The place itself is not as shabby as Szimpla but it falls into the category of a shabby bar. When the weather permits, you have to sit outside on the terrace. The food and drinks are of high quality.

If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a party, a great vibe with people from all over the world and a lot of different genres of music and atmospheres, then check out the Instant-Fogas Complex at Akácfa u. 51.

There you’ll find about 18 bars, with two gardens and plenty of places to chat, dance and have a great night out.

Halloween Thermal Baths

To speak of Budapest is to speak of, among other things, thermal baths. The city of natural springs is the spa capital of Europe.

But if you’re one of those who have been a bit downhearted when you read this, don’t worry, read on. Because we’re not going to recommend that you relax in a swimming pool. Not at all.

For Halloween night, many spas extend their opening hours and also organize pool parties with live DJs and light shows.

Check out the website of Budapest’s top spas to find out which ones will be hosting a party and their opening hours.

Halloween Run

One of Budapest’s most popular events at this time of year is its Halloween races. Dress up as a monster, zombie or whatever you want to take part in one of the most fun sporting events in the country.

There are different races, so that everyone can enjoy this day, regardless of age or physical condition. These are the different distances you can run; starting from Rottenbiller Park, on Elöd u. 1.

School Halloween race 700 m

Family Halloween Run 700 m

Halloween21 (21km) (individual and relay, it consists of 3 7km circuits)

Halloween14 (14 km) (it consists of 2 7km circuits)

Halloween7 (7 km with a 2.3km part in tunnel)

Halloween Circle (4.3 km, half of it in tunnel)

Try Hard (2.2 km, half of it in tunnel)

Halloween Accommodation

How would you feel about staying in the most beautiful hostel in Budapest; Giselle Vintage Doubles, in one of the most beautiful buildings in the whole city and very close to the iconic Erzsébet híd bridge.
